The I AM Project Is Evolving: Introducing the Business and Personal CNAP Assessments

One of the most important lessons I have learned through years of coaching is that people rarely struggle because they lack information. Most people already know many of the things they should be doing. The deeper challenge is understanding why their knowledge, values, intentions and behaviour are sometimes out of alignment. That question has been at the heart of the I AM Project from the beginning.

The work has always focused on helping people establish greater clarity around who they are, what they value, where they are going, and how they want to live. But as the work has developed, it became increasingly obvious that we needed a better way to identify where alignment already exists — and where internal friction is quietly interfering with progress.

That led to the development of the CNAP ~ Cultural Neurological Alignment Profile. And the I AM Project now includes two distinct versions of the assessment: the Business CNAP and the Personal CNAP.

The Personal CNAP

The Personal CNAP looks at alignment across the major domains of an individual's life.

Rather than asking whether your life is simply "good" or "bad," it explores a much more useful question:

Are the different parts of your life actually working together?

You may be successful professionally while neglecting your health.

You may value family deeply while giving your best energy to everyone except them.

You may know exactly what you want intellectually while continually behaving in ways that move you in another direction.

Those contradictions matter.

The Personal CNAP helps identify where your stated values, internal beliefs, emotional patterns, behaviours and life circumstances are aligned,  and where they are not.

The purpose isn't to label you. It is to give you a clearer map. Once you can see where the friction exists, the work becomes far more specific. Instead of vaguely trying to "improve your life," you can begin addressing the areas creating the greatest instability and strengthening the areas that are already working.

The Business CNAP

The Business CNAP applies the same principle of alignment to leadership and organizational life. Businesses often focus heavily on strategy, productivity, systems and performance. Those things matter.

But organizations are ultimately collections of human beings making decisions, interpreting information, responding to pressure, communicating with one another and attempting to move toward a common objective. A company can have a brilliant strategy and still struggle because its culture, leadership behaviours and decision-making processes are pulling in different directions.

The Business CNAP helps make those invisible tensions visible. It examines the relationship between leadership, organizational culture, communication, decision-making, accountability, performance, and the lived experience of the people inside the organization.

The goal is not simply to determine whether a company is performing well today.

The deeper question is:

Is the organization structurally and culturally aligned enough to continue performing well as pressure, complexity and growth increase?

That distinction matters enormously.

Why These Assessments Were Necessary

For years, personal development and business development have often relied on the same basic assumption: Identify the problem and then provide more information, but information alone rarely produces transformation.

Before meaningful change can occur, we need to understand the system producing the current behaviour.

Where is there clarity?

Where is there contradiction?

Where is energy being lost?

Where are decisions being made from old assumptions rather than present reality?

Where does someone know better but continually struggle to do better?

The CNAP assessments were created to help answer those questions.

They provide something extremely valuable at the beginning of the I AM process: orientation.

You cannot meaningfully chart a path forward until you have an accurate understanding of where you currently stand.

From Assessment to Action

The greatest value of either CNAP is not the score itself.

The assessment is simply the starting point. Its real purpose is to create a more intelligent conversation about what happens next. For an individual, that may mean strengthening identity, health, relationships, purpose, finances, or personal boundaries.

For a leader or organization, it may mean improving communication, leadership consistency, accountability, decision-making or cultural alignment. Instead of attempting to change everything at once, the CNAP helps identify where change will have the greatest leverage.

That makes the work more focused, more measurable, and ultimately, more useful. The I AM Project has always been about moving from unconscious patterns toward deliberate living. The Personal and Business CNAP assessments simply allow us to begin that work with a much clearer picture of the terrain.

Because before we ask:

Where do you want to go?

It is worth becoming very clear about:

Where are you now ~ and what is currently shaping the direction of your life or organization?
