WHAT I TEACH... |

A PERFECT
NOW... FRIENDS- Howdy... It is Sunday and I have mind-chatter going on. I am hearing that I need to write or it will not stop. So, I will share some of it with you. When you meet people on the street and get into conversations... and the conversation lingers long enough to get to religion or spiritual... I usually mention The "I AM" Project Site. Then, I get asked what I teach. Now, I have had several answers depending on what has revealed itself on their part during the conversation. But, there is really only one answer. And, it should be an answer comparable to whoever is making it. I teach DEACONOLOGY. If I was to ask you this same question and your name is Bob, your answer could be Bobology or Bobism. Giving thought to this... We can say we represent or teach the philosophies of Catholicism, Lutheranism, Buddhism, Religious Science, or any number of philosophies out there. But, will we teach any one of them in the same way the next person will? For instance, a Catholic might have a Buddha sitting on their mantle. Why? Because they read a book about it one time and something in that book inspired them enough to go out and buy a Buddha. Now, are they just a Catholic anymore? Or, are they a Catholic that has some eastern philosophy influence? So, they are not a true Catholic anymore. Some may lean towards a certain philosophy more than others. Some may have two or three philosophies that make up their belief system. Some may have studied several philosophies and took a little bit of each. And, some like myself, may have gleaned a little bit of several philosophies and developed their own. But, each philosophy is unique to each individual. Some people need to have a feeling of belonging to a group. It gives them some sort of security in saying something like, "I believe in Heebie Jeebie". And, what they are really saying is, "I believe in Heebie Jeebie... and, it is okay because Heebie Jeebie has several other followers so I cannot be wrong". Well, I believe in DEACONOLOGY. And, wrong or right, I will find out as time goes by. Further, I will change my philosophy maybe daily as I find this piece of it does not work. Or, I find that this piece worked differently than I originally thought. It supplies me with the freedom and an opportunity to go with the flow. If I was a Catholic, I would have to follow the philosophy taught. And, the minister, only being human, may teach that philosophy wrongly. But, being a good Catholic, I must follow that taught philosophy to the end... or until the church decides it does not fit the needs of the church anymore. Such as, the church teaches against birth control until the people start leaving the church because they do believe in birth control. Another thing... Can anyone actually live and teach another's philosophy with their heart into it? What I mean is... Let's say that I am a Catholic. How much of the Catholic philosophy do I really know? And, let's say I go to church every Sunday, I take classes when offered, and I read my Bible daily. I pray constantly to God and Jesus. But, I am a woman that has had three babies... I love my husband and I love showing him how much... and, I am faced with the option of birth control which is at the time a sin of the church. Ooopss... what am I to do? Is my heart in the taught philosophy of the Catholic church at this moment? My relationship with God (Spirit) is with God (Spirit). I listen within to what I need to do. I do not need anyone to interpret what Spirit has to say to me. My studies of Science of Mind, Zen, Yoga, and other spiritual philosophies have taught me how to communicate with Spirit... rather than accept someone else's interpretation. I guess what they really have done versus the conventional religions is to teach me to communicate with Spirit... talking and listening, rather than just praying... which when with the conventional religion meant asking for forgiveness. For, when I was with the Lutheran faith, that is what I was taught. That prayers were to ask for forgiveness and the minister was there to interpret the word of God. We were not smart enough to understand... was his thinking. And now that I see that, what the conventional religion did was stunt my growth. I wrote this morning that I live a life of Truth without compromise. Rev. Gertrude and I were waiting in the back room before entrance to the church on Sunday. She was fidgeting. I asked her, does she still get nervous when in front of the congregation. She said, "Yes... but not for the reason you are thinking. I am nervous because I want to teach only the Truth." That still brings tears to my eyes. She was concerned that what she might be teaching would not be the Truth. That what she had to share would form peoples' lives. She did not take that responsibility lightly. Well, we have that same responsibility with each person we meet. So, when I meet another person and they ask, "What do you teach?" My answer will be, "DEACONOLOGY!" I cannot share or teach someone else's Truth. I can only share or teach My Truth. So, the next time someone asks you, "What do you teach or believe in?" Will you say, "I am a Catholic."... or... "I am a Religious Scientist."... or... " I teach or believe in mynameology or mynameism." It really is the most Truthful statement one can make. And besides, that answer creates a lot of questions that follow; or, a giggle... which has served its purpose too. You brought a moment of laughter to another... a special gift. Well, another Raving of a Mad Man... Namaste'... Rev DEACON
