How and what I eat is what amazes people. I am
not a vegetarian. I believe that meats are good for us. And, if
I wanted to save the animals, then why wouldn't I want to save the plants.
They are both living and a part of Spirit. However, I do bless
anything before I partake of it with this blessing: "Bless that which has
given its life to sustain me."
I basically eat one meal a day. Usually that is in the evening.
Occasionally, I make it the afternoon meal.
My morning starts with a cup of coffee. It is generally the only cup
of coffee I have a day. I have been having instant coffee, one and
one-half teaspoons of sugar and a packet of instant cocoa. If I do
Starbuck's or any other coffee house, I do like coffee mocha. I also
am known to have periods where I will have Bailey's Irish Cream and coffee.
When I do I usually will use good coffee in my coffee press. Also, I
do have my own coffee roaster and a coffee bean grinder.
About 9 o'clock I start eating nuts of one kind or another. I recently
found some real good corn nuts and my body seems to need them. I have
zip-lock bags of pistachio nuts, sunflower seeds, corn nuts, and even some
unshelled nuts of all varieties. I also munch on dates, raisons and sometimes
dried prunes. I haven't been eating a lot of fruit lately cause my body
seems to not want it right now. I do love having a bed of lettuce with
mandarin oranges topped with a poppy seed dressing from time to time.
At about noon, I sit down and have cut carrots, celery and cherry tomatoes.
About three times a week, I have tortilla chips and salsa or a cheese dip.
I continue munching throughout the day until my evening meal. My
evening meals usually consist of some type of meat. This can be
pork, beef, bird, lamb, or fish. I usually keep it to about 4 to 6
ounces of meat and it is cooked on a charcoal Weber Bar-B-Q. I
really like cornish games hens done on a rotisserie. I serve it with a
fantastic salad with a variety of items and color. I like most
dressings and I make my choice depending on the items in the salad.
Most times I choose a couple of crumbled herbs and straight lemon juice.
Occasionally, I will grill some vegetables such as asparagus or bell
peppers. A glass of red wine about three or four times a week is
enjoyable. And, I drink a tall glass of milk with ice at just about
every meal. Dessert is some type of dark chocolate. I am also a
sucker for peanut-butter cookies. The type with peanuts on top.
I also crave oatmeal and raison cookies.
What I have just shared is my normal right now. A night on the town
can change all of that for that evening. Dinner at someone's home can
also change that. But, I still listen to my body and do not eat what
is not resonating with me.
I avoid packaged foods as much as possible. Avoiding synthetics is
very important to me. This body was not created for the intake of
synthetics. The body does not know how to assimilate many of the
foreign chemicals and therefore does not know how to process them for
elimination. Instead, it stores them in little pockets within your body and
they become cancer. At least that is what I believe.
As far as the quick meals where I do not have to cook, I do Subway or Taco
Bell. Eating at McDonald's or Arby's Roast Beef is a once in two
months affair. A Quarter Pounder with Cheese or a Beef and Cheddar do
call me from time to time. Sometimes my stomach or process of
elimination makes me pay though.
Oops... I almost forgot. I am a Dr. Pepper addict. I drink a
minimum of a pint bottle a day. I also drink at least half my weight
in ounces of water a day. I require a lot of liquids... always have.
Now, my diet is not extreme in any manner. I eat just about eat what I
want and when I want it. I do everything in moderation and change the
meats and salad items almost daily. I believe, as many do, that several
small meals a day are healthier.
The real thing that I do differently than most people is that I listen to my
body. It tells me when it wants certain items and when I shouldn't be
eating certain items. If I have a question, I do the "yes/no"
meditation... which is explained in the Meditation Techniques Section of
this website.
Sometimes I ignore it like yesterday. I had made some deviled eggs the
day before..
And, for lunch yesterday I pulled them out. I ate one. Yummmmm.... I had a second one. Awwww... Then, as I started to
eat a third one, my body told me "No!". But, allowing the human to
control for a moment, I went on and ate four more. At three o'clock in
the morning I woke up with my stomach screaming at me. It was filled
with gas that took me an hour and a half on the throne to relieve.
Later, I did the "yes/no" to each thing I ate during the previous
day and it
verified what it was that had made me sick... the eggs. But, the important part is
that if I had listened, I would not have had the miserable experience.
Foolish me.
Further, my blessings and affirmations are important. I bless my food.
I do affirmations to assimilate and eliminate properly. And, I listen
within. Spirit desires me to be healthy. It provided plants and
animals to eat natural and for that I am thankful.
A nutritionist once told me that if you take care of your body eighty per
cent of the time properly, then you can screw off the other twenty per cent.
He is 64 years old now with a six pack stomach and a body that just speaks
of perfect health.
Next, I will share what I do as far as exercise. One can eat well,
but one must also exercise the body to stay healthy.
EnJOY!
