Many believe that one must have a "religion".
And, I did for many years. I was raised a Lutheran and was planning to be a minister of
that faith. While at California Lutheran College, I had an experience that changed my
whole believe system about God. Actually, I believe that what I now believe was always
there. As a child, I was one of those that had psychic abilities. Also, could move objects with my mind, leave my body at will (astro-projection), and, I had this gentle wonderful voice that seemed to guide me if I listened to it. All these abilities (or gifts, depending on how you want to look at it) were considered "acts of the devil" by my religious teachers. My experience at California Lutheran College left me angry. Basically, everything I had been taught through the churches was not comfortable to me. The God that was inside of me was not letting me feel comfortable with what I was being taught. I felt lied to. I studied other religious teachings, and found the same results. Everyone teaches the "fear of God". And yet, inside I have never felt a fear. Only LOVE! I was once asked if I wanted to start another religion. By no means. There are enough religions out there. The answer that came from within was: "I want to take spirituality back to the heart of each individual." Eight (8) years later I learned about "The Science of Mind". I remember thinking that this is basically what I had actually believed all my life. Science of Mind gave me labels to attach to what I believed. The Church of Religious Science uses "The Science of Mind Textbook" in much of their teachings. Am I a "religious scientist"? No! And, Earnest Holmes wanted to share the philosophy through teaching...not ministry. So, what is my religion? I have none. I have a relationship with what I refer to as the Mother-Father Spirit. I believe in One God, One Mind, One Life and One Body. The only guidelines of my belief...are to LOVE. And, if we hold a sincere and joyous relationship with our Spiritual Parents, then we realize that we are all part of that ONE. Therefore, to not LOVE you is to not LOVE myself. Pretty basic and pretty simple. Easy to implement in my life? Not always. I still have an ego, and sometimes it runs amuck. And that, is why I use the techniques I am sharing with you to tighten that relationship. Namaste'... The Deacon |
